China Construction Bank Malaysia donates medical supplies worth more than RM1.2 million to MRCS #responsMALAYSIA

Kuala Lumpur 3 April 2020 – China Construction Bank (Malaysia) Berhad and China Construction Bank Corporation Labuan Branch (hereinafter collectively referred to as “CCB Malaysia”) and Beibu Gulf Holding Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (“Beibu”) today donated medical supplies valued at RM1.2million to the Government of Malaysia to support efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

MRCS with the support of the Minister of Finance is providing a platform #responsMALAYSIA for individuals and corporates to contribute towards the procurement of essentials required by front liners and drive community engagement, to fight the war against COVID-19.

At the handover ceremony held at Ministry of Finance building today, the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) was represented by National Vice-Chairman, Dr. Selva Jothi, KMN while CCB was represented by Mr. Felix Feng Qi, CEO, CCBM and Principal Officer, CCBL and Beibu was represented by Mr. Lu Yong, Executive Deputy General Manager. The supplies were received by the Deputy Undersecretary of Procurement and Privatisation Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia, En. Mohd Fauzee bin Abd Majid, witnessed by YB Tengku Datuk Sri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Finance Malaysia, and the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Malaysia Bai Tian.

National Vice-Chairman, Dr. Selva Jothi, KMN said:” Under our initiative #responsMALAYSIA, we have worked with individuals and corporations to supply the medical equipment required by our frontliners, and community outreach to our vulnerable groups. #responsMALAYSIA carries the message that as a Nation, we are together in the effort to curb the spread of COVID-19 in many different ways.”

Mr. Felix Feng Qi, CEO of CCBM and Principal Officer of CCBL added: “CCB Malaysia is working closely with MRCS to drive a nationwide effort to optimise and distribute critical equipment’s and supplies to those who really need it in the quickest way possible. More than anything we are pleased to participate in #responsMALAYSIA and support this noble cause.”

To date, CCB has contributed 10 units of ventilators – valued at RM1.2 million - to Malaysian Red Crescent Society and Ministry of Health. These ventilators will be sent to a few public hospitals in Malaysia.

In addition, Beibu donated 20,000 pieces of 3-ply surgical masks to MRCS to aid frontline health care workers and enforcement officers to protect themselves from COVID-19 during this Movement Control Order.
