CCB Delegates Volunteers to the Olympic Spectator Call Centre

“I hereby pledge to volunteer for the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics, promote the Olympic spirit and carry out the voluntary service concept by providing initiative and enthusiastic services through cooperative and energetic efforts with the aim of making the Olympics a more fascinating experience and the smiles of volunteers a signature of Beijing!”  Thus, in the afternoon of June 30th, before they joined the 800-strong volunteer team of the Olympic Spectator Call Centre in Beijing, 12 CCB employees solemnly took the oath to express the passion and determination of CCB people in serving the Olympics.

In order to provide the seven million man-times of domestic and foreign Olympic spectators from 205 countries around the world with quality, professional and efficient services, the Beijing Olympic Organising Committee has decided to establish the Olympic Spectator Call Centre.  The function of the Call Centre is to provide spectators during the Olympics and the Paralympics with game-related information such as competition arrangements and transportation for the Game venues and game rules, as well as consultancy services on Olympic-generated travels within China.  It therefore provides supports to guarantee the success of the Beijing Olympic Games and serves as a vital platform for cultural exchange between China and the rest of the world.

On receiving the related invitation from the Olympic Organising Committee via the Customer Relation Management Committee of the China Federation of IT Promotion, CCB started to organise a 12-member team of volunteers for the English-speaking positions.  All with superior English listening and speaking skills, customer service experience and enhanced service awareness, the members of this team were culled from the customer service teams in 800 or so credit card operating centres in Shanghai, Suzhou and Tianjin through a series of mobilisation, application and selection processes.  By sending volunteers to the Olympic Spectator Call Centre, CCB is reflecting a desirable image of an active undertaker of social responsibility.
