Recently, CCB has won the “Country Achievement Award – Excellence in Mortgage Business in China” from The Asian Banker, a Singaporean magazine. The winning of this 2007 honour reflects CCB's outstanding performance in residential mortgage loan business in recent years. Since 2006, seizing on the opportunity of increased demand for residential housing and other types of consumption brought about by China’s booming economy, CCB has been continuously improving and launching new products and services. It has been able to actively expand its residential mortgage loan business while maintaining effective risk controls. Consequently, it has secured the largest market share in residential loans in China. As at 31st December 2006, CCB’s residential mortgage loan balance increased by RMB79.82 billion to RMB428.04 billion, launching it to the number one position in China in terms of loan balance and loan growth. In the current evaluation programme, The Asian Banker magazine has assessed a total of 135 retail banking institutions in the Asian Pacific region. CCB has emerged as the ultimate winner because of its outstanding performance in China's mortgage loan market. In an effort to promote the healthy development of the real estate market and real estate financing in China and to enhance the housing standards of its people, CCB was the first domestic commercial bank to start a housing loan business. In doing so, it has been sticking to a customer-focussed operating concept. Thus, by continuously enriching the range of its housing loan products through product and service innovations, it is meeting customer demands for more choices and more individualisation in loan packages and their need in financial management. And, by striving to help fulfil the home ownership dreams of the populace, CCB is rewarding its customers and repaying society. Since last year, to meet the general public’s demand for home ownership, CCB has been launching new products such as fixed-rate mortgage, joint repayment loans and second-hand housing mortgage, etc. one after another. In addition, it has also introduced ten service schemes such as grace periods, flexible repayment terms and “Carefree Youth”. To cater to the different income and expenditure characteristics of different customers, it also offers its customers with different choices in repayment period and payment intervals which are well received. All these reflect not only CCB’s innovation and service capability in the area of mortgage products, but also reveal its competitiveness in protecting customer interests and its flexibility in meeting changing customer needs. Last year, in the "Top Financial Performance Chart” assessment programme hosted by Hexun.com, CCB was awarded the honour of providing “Outstanding Service in Personal Housing Loan in China’s Banking Industry”. This is yet another proof of CCB’s professional strength in the area of residential housing loan services in China.
