In the afternoon of 23rd May 2007, a launching ceremony for the second phase of the CCB Cup—China Family Financial Education programme was held in Both speakers started by fully endorsing the achievements secured at the first stage of the CCB Cup—China Family Financial Education programme. They then pointed out that this programme is a lively way for Chinese women to practise the principles of the “Four Selves”, namely, “Self-respect, Self-confidence, Self-reliance and Self-improvement”. It would also help a modern woman acquire financial management knowledge and become a good and smart housewife who can build an affluent, happy and harmonious family. They also expressed their wish that this meaningful programme can be run continuously for a long time and become an education brand name. Mr. Zhao Fugao, General Manager of Personal Banking Department of CCB, said that, in 2007, CCB would fully support this joint function and would extend the scope of this programme to more cities. This way, more women and families would benefit from acquiring new knowledge and concepts on family finance and more Chinese women would become smart housewives. At the venue, new editions of educational manuals on the theme and the “CCB Personal Banking Product Manual” were distributed. In addition, six financial management experts from CCB Beijing Branch were there to provide in-depth yet easy-to-understand consultative talks on how to reasonably plan the finance of a family, choose financial products and manage risks. Mr. Wang Rucheng, Financial Management Manager of CCB Beijing Branch and expert speaker of these talks, pointed out that financial management means reasonable management of one’s wealth, arrangement of income and expenses and preservation and appreciation of asset values so as to attain one’s goals in life. He stressed that a smart housewife would be the key to the success of financial management in a family. As a long term educational project under the national “Heart to Heart” serious of activities, the CCB Cup—China Family Financial Education programme aims at enhancing the overall quality of Chinese women, promoting the establishment of correct financial management concepts in women and families all over the country, and popularisation of financial knowledge in general. Since July 2006 when the first phase of the programme was started, a total of 50 mobile financial management classes had been conducted in 10 major cities, one million copies of manuals and one million sets of questionnaires had been distributed, and more than two million families had been benefited. In these 50 mobile classes which were conducted by financial management professionals from CCB, many women and families had received practical knowledge in financial management. This had aroused their attention on the importance of “acquiring financial knowledge to better manage family finances”. Consequently, these talks have been receiving enthusiastic responses from women in general and working housewives in particular. In the second phase of the programme in 2007, development of innovative teaching methods will continued. Thus, through classes conducted by experts, interactive games, discussions, salons, etc., more women will be able to acquire financial management concepts and knowledge. One million copies of the “CCB Cup—Chinese Family Financial Knowledge Manual” will be distributed to females of grass-root organisations in 15 major cities. Through simple, layman language and lively examples, women will be given step-by-step guidance to get in touch with and get a feeling of finance management and improvement of their family life. It is expected that two million families will be benefited in this second phase. |
