Recruitment of Post-doctorate Researchers by CCB Post-doctoral Research Station

Founded in October 1954, China Construction Bank is one of the oldest commercial banks in China.  As one of the first batch of state-owned commercial banks undertaking the government’s joint-stock reform pilot programme, China Construction Bank Corporation (CCB) was formally established on September 17th 2004.  Subsequently, it was listed on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong on October 27th 2005 and in the A-Share market on Shanghai Stock Exchange on September 25th 2007.  To further its business development and reinforce its research in strategic reforms, CCB has established a post-doctoral research station with endorsement from the Ministry of Personnel.  It is currently recruiting six post-doctoral researchers in conjunction with post-doctoral stations of Beijing University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Central University of Finance & Economics and China Academy of Social Sciences.  Details of the recruitment are as follows:

1.    Qualifications

a. 2008 post-doctoral graduates aged 35 or under; b. Outstanding scholarship, impeccable character and good health; c. Field of study matching CCB post-doctorate research topics; d. Strong research capabilities and good work ethics; e. In a position to completely disengaged from current duties to work in CCB’s research station.

2.    Post-doctoral Research Topics

a. Strategies on CCB’s multinational operations; b. Pricing theory and techniques on financial products; c. Credit policies for the commercial banking industry; d. Innovations for modern-day commercial banks; e. Calibration of market risk quantitative models for commercial banks; f. Legal issues on mixed operations of commercial banks.

3.    Application Requirements and Contact Channels

a.       Applicants are requested to submit the following documents to CBB Research Station before February 20th 2008:

(i)   “Post-doctoral Researcher Application Form” and "CCB Post-doctoral Researcher Enrolment Form” (Please download these forms from CCB's website at www.ccb.com under “Recruiting Notices”; the forms should be filled out in size 5 Song fonts and printed on both sides of sheets of A4 paper.

(ii)  Copy of certificate of graduation from doctoral programme and copy of certificate of doctoral degree or proof of graduation in doctoral studies in 2008.

(iii) Doctoral thesis or draft of thesis together with two academic research papers.

(iv) Reference letters from two doctoral student supervisors in related subjects.

(v)  Copy of certificate of identity (or passport).

(vi) Four recent 2-inch hatless photos.

b.       Please submit application by post and by e-mail simultaneously.  Except for thesis, all documents mentioned above should be printed (copied) on A4 paper and bound.  Application material will not be returned.

c.       Recruitment of post-doctoral researchers will be open, fair and just and carried out on a basis of stringent examinations and selection of the best.  Applicants who have passed the stage of preliminary appraisal of application material will be invited to sit for an examination in Beijing.  The examination will cover specialised knowledge, integrated knowledge and foreign language.  The date and time of the examination will be notified in due course.
